Can you get a tattoo if you have keloid skin?
By Forinfos - 23/06/2025 - 0 comments
It is possible to get a tattoo on keloid skin, but it is not recommended. Keloid skin causes lumps and abnormal growth underneath the surface, making it uneven and skin that is not ideal for tattooing.
Keloid skin is pink-purple in color and has rough, bumpy qualities above the surface. Most tattoos are done on flat, even skin, making keloid skin much more difficult to tattoo a perfect or symmetrical design. The pink-purple tint causes a challenge for certain tattoo colors, causing them to be darker shades than what might be desired. Keloids do not heal, fade or disappear over time.
