Some studies show that black cherry concentrate may provide relief in gout flare-ups, according to the Arthritis Foundation. Boston University Medical Center also claims that eating cherries may help provide relief for people with gout and prevent recurrent attacks.
The main ingredient in cherries that provides relief from gout is anthocyanins, state the Arthritis Foundation. Anthocyanins are a part of the cherry plant's pigment that provides antioxidants and powerful anti-inflammatory properties for the consumer. Some studies show that liquid cherry concentrate may have the same beneficial side effects, including fewer gout attacks for the consumer and reducing swelling if taken on a daily basis.
