Many companies, including the Home Shopping Network, do allow customers to place orders over the phone with credit cards. However, customers should not give their credit card information over the phone unless the company is trustworthy and the customer is the person who placed the call, warns AVG.
Customers should not give their credit card details to telemarketers who call them trying to sell items, notes Forbes. This is because the seller may use a false identity to scam the customer. It's also important to place phone orders in private so others around cannot hear the credit card information.
