What can you use a standard sized jelly roll pan for?

A standard sized jelly roll pan is primarily used for baking cakes and pastries. However, because the pan has a rimmed edge on all four sides, it makes it an excellent tool for roasting.

The depth of this pan creates thin cakes that are spread with filling and then rolled, such as a jelly roll cake or pumpkin roll. Standard sized jelly roll pans are not the same as a cookie sheet, but can be substituted for one. Roasting vegetables, nuts or granola is convenient, as the sides prevent the contents from falling out of the pan. You can also create a variety of pan style pizzas in a standard sized jelly roll pan.
