The government website Treasury Direct allows people to calculate the current and future value of savings bonds. Simple calculators with drop-down boxes and step-by-step instructions are available on the site.

Some savings bonds no longer earn any interest or may be subject to bond calls, where they stop earning interest before the maturation date, and Treasury Direct informs bondholders when this is the case. Individuals who are not the original owners of a bond are only provided with limited information. It is recommended that bond owners keep a record of bond numbers as well as the maturity date of each bond.
