Canada uses the Canadian Dollar as its currency. Its value floats against the value of all other major currencies. Since approximately 2009, the value of the Canadian Dollar has been roughly equal to the United States Dollar, with it being just slightly above or below at various times.
Canadian bills are commonly available in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 dollars. One and two dollar coins called the loonie and the toonie are also used. Coins include the 25 cent quarter, the 10 cent dime, the five cent nickel and the one cent penny. As of 2014, the penny is being taken out of circulation as production of new pennies has stopped.
