Tunis is the capital city of Tunisia, home to the Medina, the Bardo National Museum, Sidi Bou Said and the ancient ruins of Carthage. Tunis is often overlooked by European tourists flocking to Tunisia's beaches.
The Medina is lined with sidewalk cafes and palm trees for shade. Tunis is a modern and safe city offering many fine restaurants serving up a unique mixture of Arab and French cuisine. North Africa's best museums are in Tunis. The Bardo is a museum palace and features all the Tunisian treasures found within ancient ruins. Sidi Bou Said is a beautiful coastal village within Tunis, and the railway system can take a person to the Carthage ruins.
