Do cats blink?

While cats can blink, it is not necessary for them to blink frequently to lubricate their eyes. A cat can use blinks to communicate signs of nonhostility to another cat. A cat that blinks slowly, for example, is showing affection to the target in its vision.
The biological design of a cat's eye includes a third eyelid called the nictitating membrane. This membrane is a thin cover over the pupil and moves from side to side when the eyelid is opened. A cat's eyes have a field of view of 200 degrees but a slightly narrower binocular field view when compared to a human's sight.
