Do cats see in black and white?

According to Business Insider, cats have color vision, although it is limited when compared to that of humans. Cats are trichomats, meaning that they see in shades of the three primary colors. Blues and greens are easily detectable to a cat, but reds are more difficult.

Shades of red may appear more green in a cat's vision. Color intensity is also comparatively less than that of humans. Cats are nearsighted, but they have superior night vision, as do many other predatory animals. Their high number of rods, which are the cells in the retinas that detect light, allows cats to see in the dark using only one-sixth of the light that humans use.
