How do you change the desktop icon sizes in Windows 7?

In Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system, desktop icon size can be adjusted by right-clicking on the desktop, pointing to View, then choosing Small, Medium or Large icons from the menu. Holding down the Ctrl key while moving the mouse's scroll wheel also adjusts desktop icon sizes.

The desktop's View menu allows the user to automatically arrange and align the icons or to hide them completely.
