Are there any Chernobyl zombies?

There are no Chernobyl zombies, but the nuclear disaster that occurred at the site in Ukraine caused severe radiation, killing some workers and affecting generations of the local population. The disaster inspired the Hollywood horror movie "Chernobyl Diaries."

The accident occurred on April 26, 1986, when a sudden increase in power destroyed a nuclear power station at Chernobyl. Of the millions of residents affected, many were children and adolescents who drank radiated milk at the time, which passed on substantial radiation to their thyroid glands.

Experts anticipate that some cancer deaths will result from Chernobyl radiation-exposure over the lifetimes of affected populations.
