Why is the city better than the country?

People who prefer city living argue that it offers a better quality of life. Jessica Reed, writing for the Guardian, points out that many who live in the city can walk everywhere they need to go and avoid the hassles of owning a car.
Cities also offer far more amenities. Few museums, for example, are built in the country; most large cities have several. Cities have more restaurants and sports venues. However, living in cities can be expensive, and few can afford large homes. While many cities have parks, those who live in the country have better access to open space and natural scenery.
