Does clarifying shampoo strip hair color?

A clarifying shampoo can strip hair color if it is used improperly. To prevent hair color from fading, avoid using it for the first three to four weeks after coloring hair and never more than once a month.
Clarifying shampoo removes unwanted residues that build up on hair over time. These are most commonly caused by pollution, chlorine, hard water, mineral deposits and other hair products. With regular use once or twice a month, hair is notably less weighed down and shine is restored.
If you color your hair, limit the use of a clarifying shampoo to once every four to six weeks, or seek a color-safe clarifying shampoo.
