How do you clean a dishwasher?

To clean the dishwasher, you must wipe the door, wash out the tub with vinegar and clean any remaining accessories. You need a toothbrush, soft cloths and sponges to complete this project. You can use an unsweetened lemonade powder or baking soda for extra freshness.
- Wipe the door
Clean the outside of the dishwasher with warm, soapy water. Open the door to wash around the sides, and use a toothbrush to scrub hinges and grooves. Remove any residue with a sponge soaked in water. Use another wet sponge to wipe down the area.
- Wash the tub
Make sure the dishwasher is empty. Wipe the base of the dishwasher with a paper towel before washing the tub. Place a single cup of white vinegar on top of the rack, and run the washer on a full cycle with hot water. When the cycle is finished, wipe the inside with paper towels and a dry cloth. Place a cup of baking soda or lemonade mix on the bottom rack, and run the dishwasher again with hot water.
- Clean remaining accessories
Remove all racks and utensil holders. Wipe away any lingering debris. Clean the spray arm with a toothbrush or cloth to get rid of clogs.
