To clean drip pans on a stove top, unplug the heating elements, remove the drip pans, soak them in soapy water, scrub them clean, and replace them. Always start with a cool cook top, and wipe the cook top down before replacing the drip pans.
- Make sure the burners are cool
If the stove has been used recently, wait until the cooking elements are completely cool before proceeding.
- Unplug the cooking coils
Find the place where the heating elements attach to the cook top. Gently pull the plug area away from the cook top without twisting. Set the coils aside.
- Remove the drip pans
Lift the drip pans from the cook top. Dump any loose debris in the trash.
- Soak the drip pans
Immerse the drip pans in a basin of warm, soapy water. Let them soak for about 10 minutes.
- Scrub the drip pans
Use a plastic scrub pad to scour the drip pans clean.
- Rinse the drip pans
Rinse the drip pans under warm running water. Dry them with a soft towel.
- Clean the stove top
Spray the stove top with a degreaser, and wipe it clean.
- Replace the drip pans and heating coils
Set the drip pans back on the stove, and push the plugs of the heating elements back into place. Make sure the coils are completely attached and level with the cook top.
