To clean a flat iron, allow it to cool down, wipe it with a damp cloth, wipe it with rubbing alcohol, and follow with a damp cloth. Use a cotton swab to reach tiny spaces you might have missed, and repeat the process until all the residue is gone.
- Allow the flat iron to cool down
Turn the flat iron off, and unplug it from the wall. Allow it to cool down for five minutes.
- Rub a moist cloth over the flat iron
Dampen a cloth or a paper towel, and rub it over the flat iron to remove as much of the residue buildup as possible.
- Wipe down the flat iron with rubbing alcohol
Moisten a cloth or a paper towel with rubbing alcohol, and rub it over the flat iron. The rubbing alcohol breaks down styling products that have hardened on your flat iron.
- Clean the hard-to-reach places with a cotton swab
Use a cotton swab dampened with rubbing alcohol to get into the tiny spaces that you might have missed with the towel.
- Wipe off the rubbing alcohol
Use a damp cloth or paper towels to wipe off the rubbing alcohol. Repeat this process until all the residue is gone.
