How do you clean patio cushions?

To clean patio cushions, spray them with a solution of dishwashing detergent, borax and water, rinse the cushions with clean water, spray them with a fabric protector, and then dry them. You need dishwashing detergent, borax, water, a garden hose and a spray bottle to accomplish this task.

1. Prepare the cleaning solution

   Make a solution of 1 teaspoon dishwashing detergent, 1 teaspoon of borax and 1 quart of water in a bucket. Pour a potion of the solution into a spray bottle.

2. Apply the solution

   Spray both sides of the cushion with the solution, including the creases and crevices. Repeat the process for each cushion, refilling the spray bottle as needed. Let the solution loosen the dirt for 15 minutes.

3. Rinse the cushions

   Spray the cushions with a garden hose, one at a time, to remove the dirt and cleaning solution residue. Place the cushions upright against an edge to eliminate excess water.

4. Apply a fabric protector, and dry the cushions

   Once the cushions are damp, spray them with a fabric protector to safeguard the cushions and facilitate future cleaning. Allow the cushions to completely dry. When drying, turn the cushions periodically to ensure both sides are free of moisture before using them again.
