Apartment Therapy recommends a simple method for cleaning scorched pans and burnt pots. The only materials you need are 1 cup of water, 1 cup of white vinegar, 2 tablespoons of baking soda and a sponge or plastic pot scrubber.
Scrape all of the burned food out of the scorched pan
Scrape out and discard as much of the food stuck in the pan as possible.
Pour the water into the burnt pot
If the water level in the bottom of the pot is very low, add a little more water to the pot.
Add the white vinegar
Pour the white vinegar into the pot, and stir to combine the liquids.
Bring the liquid to a boil
Bring the pot to a rolling boil. Turn off the heat.
Add the baking soda to the liquid in the pot
The baking soda causes the mixture of white vinegar and water to start fizzing. Allow the burnt pot to soak off the heat for several minutes.
Empty the pot
After soaking, pour the liquid out of the pot. Rinse out the pot with warm water.
Wipe out the pot
If any staining remains, scour it with a sprinkling of baking soda. Wash the pot as usual.
