How do you clean stove burners?

To clean an electric coil burner, use a dishcloth with mild soap to remove residue. For stuck-on residue, use a baking soda paste, and let it sit for 20 minutes before wiping it off.
- Remove the cooled burners
After cooking, turn off the burners, and wait for them to cool completely to the touch before cleaning. Disconnect each burner from the stove. Most electric coil burners easily detach from an electric plug underneath the stove top with a firm pull.
- Wipe down the burners
For mild residue, wipe the cooled burners with a wet dishcloth and a small amount of mild dish soap. Use a fresh, damp dishcloth to wipe the soap off the burners.
- Scrub off tough residue
Combine baking soda with a little water to make a thick paste. Use a kitchen scrubbing tool to scrub the paste onto tough, stuck-on food residue on the burners. Allow the paste to sit on the stains for up to 20 minutes, then use a damp dishcloth to wipe it off.
- Replace the burners
Make sure the burners are dry, then return each one to its place on the stove top. Be careful to push the electric part back into place correctly. Turn on the burners to make sure each burner is working properly.
