A Cleveland Brown is a professional American football player who plays football for the team based in the city of Cleveland, Ohio. The team is named after football legend Paul Brown.
In 1945, the football franchise held a naming contest to publicize the team, promising a $1,000 war bond to the winner. The most popular submission recognized the team’s first coach and general manager, Paul Brown. Brown initially rejected the name in favor of Panthers, but he eventually dropped his objection. The team colors are orange, brown and white. The franchise is the only one in the National Football League that does not have a helmet logo.
