Myanmar has a rainy climate due to monsoons, with over 200 inches of rain in coastal areas during the summer. The interior of the country, considered the "dry zone," receives up to 40 inches of rain per year.
The coastal and delta areas of Myanmar are the hottest, at an average of 90 degrees Fahrenheit, while the average temperature in the highlands is 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Myanmar's coastline is about 1,200 miles long, and its highest point is Hkakabo Razi, which rises to 19,295 feet. It is the largest country in mainland Southeast Asia and borders six other countries: India and Bangladesh to its northwest, and Tibet, China, Laos and Thailand to its northeast.
