Do cocker spaniels shed their hair?

Cocker spaniels are long-haired dogs that shed a great deal. Proper bathing and grooming on a regular basis may help to reduce the shedding somewhat.
A cocker spaniel may not be a good choice for those who do not want to spend time on a regular bathing and grooming routine. A cocker spaniel requires a thorough brushing several times per week in order to prevent excess shedding and tangles, so relying strictly on a professional grooming service is impractical.
Although regular grooming and clipping helps decrease excess shedding, most cocker spaniels still shed to a noticeable degree. The fur tends to stick to furniture, flooring, upholstery and other surfaces, making this breed a poor choice for those who prefer extremely pristine household environments.
