The lowest temperature ever recorded in the United Kingdom is -27.2 degrees Celsius, according to the official website of the U.K. National Weather Service, the Met Office. The record stands as of 2014.
The record was set in Braemar in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, on February 11, 1895. Braemar again saw the record low on January 10, 1982, while Altnaharra in the Highland region of Scotland experienced the same temperature on December 30, 1995. According to the Met Office, the record low in England is -26.1 degrees Celsius, while Wales and Northern Ireland have record lows of -23.3 degrees Celsius and -18.7 degrees Celsius respectively.
