To dye hair with Kool-Aid, mix a packet of Kool-Aid with hot water. Apply the mixture to your hair, and allow the hair to air dry. You will need one packet of sugar-free Kool-Aid, a cup of water, a saucepan, a pot holder, a heat-proof spoon, a container, a towel and paper towels.
- Prepare the Kool-Aid color mixture
Bring one cup of water to a boil in the saucepan. Remove the pan from the heat using an oven mitt, and pour the water into the container. Add the contents of the Kool-Aid packet to the water, and stir the mixture until the Kool-Aid completely dissolves. Allow the mixture to sit and cool for two minutes.
- Apply the Kool-Aid mixture to your hair
Drape the towel over your shoulders to avoid staining your clothing. Dip your hair into the mixture, and let it soak for five minutes. Blot the hair with paper towels to prevent drips that could stain the floor or other surfaces. Do not rub the hair with the towels.
- Allow your hair to air dry
Air dry the hair. Keep the towel draped across your shoulders during the drying process.
- Reapply the Kool-Aid mixture as needed to maintain color
Reapply the color mixture as needed. If the hair is washed and conditioned regularly, the color fades within four to eight weeks. To remove the color quickly, wash the hair 4 to 5 times per week with a clarifying shampoo.
