The order of the continents from smallest to largest by human population, however, is Antarctica, Australia, South America, North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Asia dominates the rest of the list; its population is larger than that of the other six continents combined.

Antarctica has a permanent human population of zero due to its extraordinarily harsh weather. It is the coldest, driest and windiest continent. Only temporary human populations live in Antarctica for the purpose of research.
