What is the cost-effectiveness of a Tempstar air conditioner?

Tempstar central air-conditioning units in production as of 2015 can achieve high seasonal effective efficiency ratios, with the most efficient units achieving up to 19 SEER. This high efficiency means that a new Tempstar air-conditioning system can achieve substantial cost savings over older or less efficient systems.
The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that central air-conditioning systems such as the Tempstar Observer TXT+ that qualify as energy-efficient under its Energy Star guidelines can use as much as 15 percent less electricity than non-qualifying models, reducing energy bills by a substantial sum. These savings can be as high as 30 percent when replacing an air-conditioning system that is 12 years old or older.
