Cough, fever, chest pain, night sweats and chills are all symptoms of valley fever, also known as acute coccidioidomycosis, according to Mayo Clinic. Symptoms of valley fever usually mimic those of the flu and appear from one to three weeks after exposure to someone infected with the condition.

Additional symptoms include headache, joint aches, fatigue and the development of a red, spotty rash, notes Mayo Clinic. The rash from valley fever often presents as painful red bumps that ultimately turn brown in color. Usually, the rash confines itself to the arms, back and chest, although it may form blisters or produce eruptions similar to pimples.
