Venice, Florida, occupies 14 miles of white sand beaches just south of Sarasota in Sarasota County. The county rests south of Manatee County and north of Charlotte County, and is bordered by De Soto County to the east. The county seat rests in Sarasota; the largest city is North Port.
The county stretches from Sarasota-Bredenton International Airport in the north to the town of Englewood at the southern border. Most of the county is easily accessible from Interstate 75, the county's major expressway.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Sarasota County occupies nearly 555 land square miles and has an estimated population of just under 400,000.
