Is the Venice Theatre in Venice, Florida, famous?

The Venice Theatre in Florida is well-known due to its rich history. The theater company that uses it was established in 1950 in a former U.S. Air Force hut. The first production there, "The Torchbearers," was a big event in this small city, gaining notoriety for the new theater.

The current Venice Theatre was established in 1973, in the former gym of the Kentucky Military Institute. The theater has since gone on to host the AACT World Fest.

The Venice Theatre was originally called the Venice Little Theatre, but changed its name with board support in 2008. In 2015, the theater became home to a production of Hair put on by an original Broadway cast member.
