Cupric bromide is a chemical compound more commonly known as copper(II) bromide. It is represented by the chemical formula CuBr2. It contains one atom of copper, represented by Cu, and two atoms of bromine, represented by Br2.
Cupric bromide is used in skin lasers and in photography. It is a toxic substance that can be harmful if ingested. The compound, which is a crystalline solid with a grayish-black hue under normal conditions, has a molar mass of about 223.37 grams per mole and a density of about 4.71 grams per cubic centimeter. It is produced through a reaction of copper oxide and hydrobromic acid.
