According to the High Commission for Antigua and Barbuda, the East Caribbean dollar is the state's local currency. Visitors can use major credit cards to make transactions or pay over the counter in U.S. dollars.
According to the currency trading firm OANDA, the East Caribbean dollar is also used in Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines as well as the UK territories of Anguilla and Montserrat. The currency site XE states that the currency code of the East Caribbean dollar is "XCD" and its symbol is "$." The currency is pegged to the U.S. dollar, with every United States dollar worth 2.70 East Caribbean dollars.
