Did Al Capone have a deaf son?

Alphonse Albert Francis Capone, Jr., was partially deaf. As a child, he underwent brain surgery to treat a mastoid infection. He survived the surgery, but his hearing was damaged.

Al Capone, Jr., was born Dec. 4, 1918, the son of noted gangster Al Capone and Mae Coughlin. His nickname was Sonny. He was 7 when he had the surgery to treat the infection. It is rumored that his father offered his doctors $100,000 to save his life. In later years, Capone, Jr., changed his last name to Brown in order to distance himself from the Capone family. Sonny died in 2004 at the age of 85.
