Where did the Iroquois Indians live?

The Iroquois, who were a group of five tribes, lived in New York, mostly along the St. Lawrence River. This tribe of Indians lived in permanent homes, although these homes were moved every 20 years or so due to the soil in the area giving out.
The Iroquois numbers were greatly reduced by new diseases brought in by the settlers, but they managed to rebuild their numbers back up by taking in other tribes to their group. The Iroquois rebuilt fast enough that they were able to fight for the British in the Revolutionary War. This was not beneficial to the tribe since it split them three tribes to two for the British and led to the start of them selling their lands to the settlers.
