When did the Korean War end?

The official date that marked the end of the Korean War is July 27, 1953. The war lasted for three years before an armistice between North Korea, South Korea and the People's Republic of China brought it to an end.

The Korean War began with an invasion of South Korea by North Korea, which was a communist state at the time. The United States joined the war almost immediately, sending troops to aid in South Korea's defensive efforts against North Korea. Many believe that the threats of nuclear attacks by the United States helped lead to the end of the war in 1953.
