Why did TNT cancel "Perception"?

The reasons cited for TNT canceling "Perception" include a decrease in ratings, failing to reach the preferred demographic group and a change in direction for the channel. In 2015, the channel announced a move toward edgier programming.
The show's ratings dropped 28 percent from the first season to the second season. The third season then saw a 10 percent decrease from the previous season. Despite the decrease, episodes during season three attracted an average of 2.78 million viewers. However, the show also did not perform particularly well among viewers age 18 to 49, a prime age group among advertisers, so the network cancelled it.
