Where does spring water come from?

Spring water comes from springs, which are formed on the side of a hill with a valley at the bottom. There are different sizes and types of springs, with some water being ready to drink.
Many springs have water that is fine to drink right from the spring though it needs to be tested first. The water from most springs is clear although many springs around the United States have a brown-tinted color, often called tea-colored water. Springs like those found in Colorado have a high iron content that colors the water brown. This water needs to be purified and cleaned prior to drinking.
