Are dinosaurs still alive?

Dinosaurs are no longer alive. The final species of dinosaur was wiped out in the Cretaceous-Tertiary extinction event more than 65 million years ago. An asteroid the size of Texas crashed into Earth at that time and killed off the dinosaurs when the debris blotted out the sun.
Although dinosaurs are extinct, they have descendants that persist to this day. Birds evolved from a class of dinosaur named theropods. Animals such as crocodiles, snakes and lizards, although not direct descendants of dinosaurs, are related to them by reptilian classification. Some scientists denote birds as modern-day dinosaurs, but avians are not truly dinosaurs.
