What diseases affect pin oaks?

Some diseases that affect pin oak trees include oak wilt, bacterial leaf scorch and anthracnose. These three diseases are spread differently, and oak wilt can be spread from tree to tree through their roots.
Oak wilt is a fungus that prevents the tree from getting the food and water it needs to grow properly. While it can be transmitted from another pin oak, it can also be contracted from sap beetles. Bacterial leaf scorch can be contracted from two types of insects, leafhoppers and spittlebugs. It's a long-lasting disease that can take up to 10 years to reach full strength. Water and wind spreads anthracnose and causes the tree to lose its leaves.
