Disney's first "Pirates of the Caribbean" film, "The Curse of the Black Pearl," has mostly positive reviews. Its three sequels are less favorably reviewed, with each successive one receiving reviews more negative than the previous.
According to critic review aggregator site RottenTomatoes.com, 79 percent of critics positively reviewed "The Curse of the Black Pearl." Only 54 percent reacted positively to "Dead Man's Chest," while 45 percent liked "At World's End." The 2011 sequel "On Stranger Tides" received the worst reviews, with a 33 percent approval rating. Critics derided the film for being disjointed, joyless and noisy, as well as for being an unnecessary addition to the franchise.
