Do dogs sweat?
By Forinfos - 25/09/2025 - 0 comments
Although dogs primarily rely on panting to regulate their body temperature, they do have some sweat glands that activate in extreme heat. Most of these sweat glands are located on the bottom of their feet.
Panting is similar to sweating in that it cools the dog by allowing moisture from the tongue, throat and lungs to evaporate. In hot climates, many dog owners spray their dogs lightly with water to simulate sweating and help keep the dog cool. Sweating around the paws is often a sign that the dog is becoming too hot. Signs of overheating include sluggishness, confusion and bright red gums. Dogs exhibiting these symptoms should be seen by a veterinarian.
