Why don't Texans drink Lone Star beer?

Texans often avoid Lone Star beer because it is brewed by Pabst Brewing Company, which is based in Illinois. Although brewed in Texas, profits from the sales of Lone Star beer are routed out of state, a fact that keeps many drinkers from drinking it.

Although the beer's slogan, "Drinking any other beer is treason," appeals to Texan's pride, the beer's detractors say that sales from the beer don't promote the Texas economy. The beer was once brewed at a San Antonio brewery, but is now brewed under a contract between Miller Brewing and Pabst Brewing Company as of 2015. The contract has been in effect since 1999.
