What is the Dowsing Machine?

The Dowsing Machine is a key item that can be used almost anywhere within the video game "Pokémon X and Y" manufactured by Nintendo. The feature enables a player to locate hidden items from types of Poké Balls, Hyper Potions and Repel.

Within the window of a player's game, the Dowsing Machine locates items that are on-screen and a small distance off-screen. Players take possession of the item by directly facing the hidden item and pressing the A button. A player cannot obtain the Dowsing Machine if the character is standing on the exact location where the hidden item rests.
