What is a Dreamsicle ball python?

The dreamsicle, or lavender albino piebald, is a ball python that has been genetically selected to exhibit a specific coloring pattern consisting of lavender-purple, a pastel yellow and vibrant red eyes. These ball pythons are extremely rare and can be sold for upwards of $60,000.

The dreamsicle ball python is so rare because the genes that cause the pattern and coloring are both recessive. Therefore, a certain amount of dreamsicle breeding is reliant on chance and luck. Ball pythons derive their name from the defensive posture that they exhibit when startled or threatened. The snake coils up into a ball with its head in the center of the coils.
