What is dryer lint made of?

Dyer lint is made of small fibers that are shed from clothes as they dry in the dryer. It also contains perfumes, soap residue, dyes, dust, hair and thread.
The dryer vent is a filter that catches any particles floating in the air being expelled from the dryer. The composition of dryer lint changes with what is being dried. Dryer lint can be reused in many ways. It is extremely flammable, so a small amount makes a good fire-starter. Dryer lint can be added to compost, used as an ingredient for homemade paper and to cushion packages. It can also be used as stuffing for small, non-porous toys.
