Are ductless heat pumps more energy-efficient than ducted ones?

Ductless heat pump systems are more energy-efficient than ducted ones. This is because the metal used in ducted systems can cause an energy loss of up to 30 percent when compared to ductless systems.
The efficiency loss in ducted system increases if the ducts are placed inside a space without air conditioning. Ductless systems are also easier to install and take up less space than ducted systems. However, ductless systems are much more expensive, costing an average of about 30 percent more than other systems. Additionally, improper sizing of a ductless system could result in a waste of energy and a failure to maintain proper humidity and temperature control.
