Where do Dutch people live?

Dutch people come from the Netherlands, located in western Europe. The population of the Netherlands is 16,877,351 as of July 2014, according to the CIA. The term Holland, though sometimes inaccurately used synonymously with Netherlands, actually refers to only two provinces of the nation, North and South Holland.

The Dutch people speak the Dutch language, though regional languages such as Lox Saxon, Limburgish and Frisian may be used. The word "Dutch" is reminiscent of the German "Deutsch," and in the 15th and 16th centuries, "Dutch" referred to German and Dutch people alike. Distinction eventually was made between the "Deutsch" or German people and the "Dutch," or people of the Netherlands.
