What eats the dumbo octopus?

Sharks, killer whales and tuna are the main eaters of the dumbo octopus. Since it spends much of its life at depths ranging from 1,300 feet to more than 20,000 feet, the octopus does not have many predators.

This deep-sea species is an easy target of larger fish, mainly due to its small size. The average dumbo octopus is no more than 8 inches in length, while the largest dumbo octopus ever recorded measured 6 feet and weighed 13 pounds. Dumbo octopuses are usually red, green or orange. They feed on different crustaceans, bivalves, various worms found on the sea bottom and copepods. They are known to swallow their prey whole.
