How long is the SAT test?

As of 2014, the SAT test takes three hours and 45 minutes to complete. The SAT test is broken into 10 timed sections that include three critical reading tests, three writing tests, one mathematics test and one variable test that is not scored.

The three writing tests on the SAT are divided into two 25-minute sections and one 10-minute section, totaling 60 minutes. The critical reading portion of the SAT includes two 25-minute multiple choice tests and one 20-minute multiple choice test, totaling 70 minutes. The two mathematics tests take 25 minutes each, with an additional test lasting 20 minutes, totaling 70 minutes. The final, unscored variable test lasts 25 minutes.
