Are elephants afraid of mice?

Discovery Channel's Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman found it is plausible that elephants are, in fact, afraid of mice. The MythBusters team, led by Savage and Hyneman, traveled to South Africa to introduce mice into a pack of wild elephants and observed the behavior of these elephants.

The MythBusters team introduced mice into holes in the ground covered by elephant dung. The elephants moved the dung away to find the mice. This stopped the elephants in their tracks. The team considered the elephant's behavior cautious around the mice, making it plausible that elephants are afraid of mice.

According to the Discovery Channel, the myth that elephants are afraid of mice has been around since A.D. 77.
