How do you get Elmer's glue out of carpet?

While it is better to attempt to remove Elmer's glue from carpeting while it is still wet, there are a few different ways the glue may be removed. Dabbing the glue with a paper towel moist with water or vinegar may often loosen Elmer's glue and allow for easier removal.
A warm iron pressed against a cloth or brown paper over the glue spot may help remove glue from a carpet. If the glue is dry, it may sometimes be scraped loose with a knife. If none of these methods completely removes the glue, it may be removed by gently snipping the glue-covered carpet fibers with a pair of scissors.
